Integrative Lactation and Family Health is a comprehensive specialty practice dedicated to lactation.  It integrates evidence based interventions, both holistic and conventional, to achieve optimal breastfeeding outcomes for mother, baby and family.

 

A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) can assess, diagnose, order labs and prescribe treatment modalities for both the mother and baby.  They collaborate with your Doctor, Midwife or Pediatrician and can refer families to other health professionals including Physical Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy and other maternal and pediatric specialists as necessary.

A International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a health care professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. This is the highest recognized standard for lactation care, requiring years of experience, education and documentation of competency. There are many other types of lactation support (CLC, CBE, CBE, CLE) but they are not a substitute for an IBCLC.
